Service will allow subscribers to stream or buy content.
Sky Brazil is planning to provide some of its movie content in Over-The-Top (OTT) form on a Video On Demand (VOD) basis. The company is considering charging approximately US $8.60 a month for access to its content, while charging additional fees for certain types of downloadable content.
The service is said to rely on about a thousand titles, 50 per cent-to-60 per cent of which are different from those offered on TV, explained Sky Brazil’s President, Luiz Eduardo Baptista da Rocha.
Sky Brazil’s ‘Club Sky Online’ would have to be bought into by subscribers with the monthly fee giving them unlimited access to a catalogue of content which consists of exclusive material as well as movies, series, musicals, Spanish live soccer tournaments, along with national and international TV shows.
Movie rental prices kick off at US $2.85 and viewers are allowed to view the content as many times as they wish within 48 hours. Users can also pay a higher price to ‘buy’ a movie and have the material continuously available. New releases cost US $20.30, though there are also cheaper options.
