Attracting world-class music acts seems to be something the UAE in particular has down-pat, with the likes of Flash and Done Events regularly showcasing major artists to crowds of over 10,000 fans.
What is lacking however, are the arena-style production elements seen internationally as part of artists’ world tours, due in most part to the absence of a major arena venue, which inevitably restricts not only crowd numbers but also production.
So does the Gulf need a major entertainment arena capable of hosting 40, 50 or even 60,000-strong crowds? S&S asks some of the industry’s main players in the region’s concert industry for their opinion.
