Turner Broadcasting appoints commercial director

Turner Broadcasting Systems Arabic (TBS) has announced the appointment of Tarek Mounir as commercial director to lead all commercial activities for TBS Arabic in the region, including Cartoon Network Arabic which was launched on last month.

Mounir joins TBS Arabic after more than 10 years with Blink Studios, LBC TV and Future TV to pursue a career in a more niche area of cartoon animation. Most recently, he was the business development director of Blink Studios, where he was involved in overseeing Blink's TV series production pipeline and leading the growth of the company in terms of networking and pursuing new business ventures for the development of Blink Studios both regionally and internationally.

"Moreover, Mounir will work closely with our local partners on identifying local content from all around the Middle East for the new Cartoon Network Arabic, and driving it towards the international market when possible," he added.

Mounir will be responsible for establishing a healthy commercial operation that delivers growth in the region across TBS Arabic's entire existing business base, in addition to identifying new business opportunities throughout the Middle East. He will also work closely with the channel group to drive the channel's viewership forward, aiming to make the new Cartoon Network Arabic one of the most popular kids' channels in the region.

Commenting on his new role, Mounir said, "I am delighted to join TBS Arabic's team and work with a brand name that is renowned for its unsurpassed quality and services in the broadcast industry. I am looking forward to taking up the challenge of leading the commercial portfolio for the newly launched Cartoon Network Arabic."

Prior to joining the Blink Studios Team, Mounir started his career in the television industry being one of the most sought after presenters for TV stations LBCI and Future TV broadcasting.
