Imagenation slates new Hollywood production deals

Abu Dhabi film fund Imagenation and Participant Media have confirmed they will co-produce Hollywood features Furry Vengeance and The Crazies, which are slated for release in 2010.

The two companies will join forces with Overture Films to produce the George A Romero horror adaptation The Crazies, and work with Summit Entertainment to produce the Brendan Fraser vehicle, Furry Vengeance.

Overture and Summit will be responsible for the distribution of the respective films in the United States.

Imagenation CEO Ed Borgerding claimed the deals marked “a strong start” to the companies’ co-funding initiative, which was announced in September last year.

“The speed in which this fund has become a reality and the robust pipeline of projects in development bodes very well for our collaboration,” Borgerding added.

Jim Berk, CEO of Participant Media commented that the partnership will allow the companies “to move aggressively in the development, production and release of quality feature films”.

The Crazies and Furry Vengeance are high quality, commercial films which both entertain and inspire. Both are representative of the types of productions that we look forward to partnering on in the future,” added Berk.
